NBoundZ

A new year ahead

This weekend was incredible in the HPDE. My fun started in December when Jason Boles asked me to assume the new position of Director of Vendor Sponsorhips. Approximately one week later, Dan Sturla also asked me to help with the DE2 downloads as one of his assistants, what a whirlwind start for the year! At he same time, this gave NBoundZ an opportunity to be put in the forefront of the local racing and driving scene and and become a integral part of ClubracingAZ and NASA Arizona. First off,I want to thank Chris Soehren for all of his support this weekend and helping me with the paddock area with the vendors and helping Marty at Scottsdale Motoring. Chris Soehren also jumped in and helped Dan Sturla with the DE2 downloads since the format had changed and their was some confusion in the morning sessions.

Both days started with and open first sessions in each class. Drivers were obviously rusty after the holidays, it was kind of crazy out there. The second and third sessions included drills, this proved to be fun and very interesting. Second session was a side by side drill, the goal was to learn to drive the entire course side by side with another car at slower speeds, then increasing with comfort. I’m glad to say, I don’t have any paint on my car other than mine and vice versa. It was fun to do something different. The third session was a passing drill, all sessions passed in three common areas in the track were passing is relatively straight. This was a great drill to show the importance of watching your mirrors and giving point bys, then “lifting” to assist in a safe pass. The drill went off without a hitch. I helped run the drills in DE2 and practiced at higher speeds in DE3 under Jeff Sturla’s instruction. The fourth sessions were all out, can you say practice for “race group” Overall, the weekend was a blast, I got to drive 12 to 14 sessions for the entire weekend, my poor car and brakes!

The weekend also allowed us to fellowship with our brothers in Christ and explain to the spectators and drivers why we are out here professing our faith when asked. Botton line, they probably wouldn’t have asked, if we had not publicly professed our faith via our cars.

I’m really excited for the events to come, we hope to have a prayer before the mandatory driver meetings in the mornings before the events and open Chapel at the tracks for a time to come together on Sundays and have a small fellowship.

We hope to see everyone at the next event. Chris Soehren will be a the February 3,4 event, but I will be in Colorado skiing with my beautiful wife celebrating her 30th birthday. I plan on being back in full swing in March – three weekends!!!! WOW!
