If you are not in possession of this wristband inside the track, you will have to return to the gate to re-sign the waiver and be issued another band. Parking spots are unrestricted with the exception of the tech/impound area to the East of the garages and the area directly North of the garages which will have an area reserved for vendors. Tech will be located at the East end of the garages in the first two bays with Race tech in the East bay and HPDE tech in the West bay. For HPDE and Time Trial, there is no pre-inspection for HPDE Cars. Racers should make sure they have their annual inspections complete and a racing self-tech form completed prior to arriving at the track (see http://www.nasaproracing.com/images/rules-forms/form_race_tech.pdf). If you need an annual inspection, please let us know and we will set aside a time for you on either Friday evening or Saturday morning. If your annual is complete and your self-tech form is complete, please visit tech in the morning to be issued a tech sticker that will allow you to compete for the weekend. You do not need to bring your gear or car unless you need a logbook or an annual. If you would like to have an inspection done and a logbook issued prior to the weekend, please phone Jim Fluckey @ German Auto Svc in Phoenix. Â
REGISTRATION: If you have pre-registered for the weekend, you will need to check in with Registration to receive your credentials for the event. Then, get your car teched and make sure you attend the Driver’s Meeting at the scheduled time and location. If you miss your driver’s meetings, you will have to contact your group leaders to obtain a wristband and track pass that will get you on to the track. Group meetings will be held downstairs in the media room unless your group leader advises you otherwise.

If you have your own transponder, please make sure we have the number either through your online registration or by checking with Timing and Scoring in the morning to make sure you’re all set. Â

NBoundZ would like to invite everyone out to Phoenix International Raceway for the weekend of March 2 -4. We would encourage everyone to bring your digital cameras so we can get a large amount of coverage for this event. If you have a helmet, bring it with you, there will be multiple opportunities to go out on the track as a passenger. We hope to see everyone at the track.Â
Look for us at the Helmetek red tent.Â

This weekend started out a little more solid than most, after a few weeks meeting with Cliff, Gabe, Mervin, Tony Lisa, and a few phone calls to Chris, we all had an idea of what was SUPPOSED to happen for our drills. The first meeting was as usual…me busting their balls/ovaries and them nodding their heads like pro drivers, Uh-huh! First guy to spin out in session 1, you guessed it… a brand new fordGT. This guy became our example for the day, with everyone calling out his fire breathing machine for whatever it was he had done throughout the sessions. It helps that his driving and car helped him place super fast lap times and work his way through the group enough to cover everyone well more than just once throughout the day! Awesome car, very cool and awesome driver! Anyways the drill explanations went down with much repetition and I gave a few random drivers the courtesy of explaining it to the rest of the class. Saturday was an impressive, Sunday was scary. When I say scary I mean….. These are my 2 guys/girls? Who is driving 3 because they nailed it with such skill that I couldn’t believe they weren’t the advanced group! anyone who has driven with me is probably shocked, if not confused because I take pride and pleasure in pointing out the problems in the groups, never have I hardly complimented anyone person, or large group on the outstanding job they did! to all that came out, thank you so much, hardly do I ever get to drive with such an intelligent and fast learning group….even with my weak instruction!
Well, after a very exciting weekend, all I can do it say wow! Special thanks to Jason B, and the rest of the gang with Club Racing Arizona along with NASA Pro Autosports.
After entirely revamping the DE program last month with supplemental education throughout, February’s event had much more planning invested in it after January’s error filled event. DE Driving Chief, Cliff Orbach and I, along with other CRA instructors and officials, spent several weeks planning in attempts to orchestrate a much smoother weekend. All the extra hours paid off and the results were nothing but smoothness.
Hopes with DE 3 will be to eventually run driving exercises with significantly greater speed than DE 2 drivers. By instilling the drills with the DE 2 drivers, they idea is that by they time they matriculate into the more advanced groups, drivers shouldn’t skip a beat.
One thing done this weekend that really seemed to help was emailing the exercises to who the instructors felt were the stronger drivers in the group. This not only made it easier on the instructors explaining the exercises, but also promotes leadership and advancement in the drivers; exactly the purpose of the DE program.
Thanks to all who came out and looking forward to seeing everyone out there in March. Next month will have 2 events at PIR along with a crossover event at California Speedway. I encourage all those who are interest to sign up. I’ll be caravanning out there with some others from Phoenix so come join us!
Thanks to Clayton for putting up such a powerful site.
