Sonoran Desert Karting Association

August 23, 2009

Local kart racing enthusiasts are in the process of forming the “Sonoran Desert Karting Association” (SDKA). The club will be organized as a not for profit organization. The purpose of SDKA is to organize and host formal Kart racing events in the Tucson area. SDKA will also sponsor exciting special events and events that would accommodate racers with certain physical challenges.

These races will be open to all kart racers within Arizona and neighboring states. While many details are still being worked out we do have certain goals already established:

There will be four races held during the Fall/Winter 2009 season. Tentative dates are:
Sept. 19, 2009 – Saturday (evening race)
Oct. 18, 2009 - Sunday
Nov. 14, 2009 – TBD (NASCAR Weekend)
Dec. 13, 2009 - Sunday

Races will be held in many classes.

The initial race series will be held with guidelines similar to those used by PKRA.

Events will be open to all kart racers whether or not they are members of SDKA.

This will be a points event with trophies presented at the end of the season.

The purpose of this announcement is to gage the reception of this idea. We are not soliciting membership at this time, we are initially looking for a positive reception And support for this idea. Once we are further along with the club organization we will be accepting memberships and sponsors.

Please email back your comments, ideas and interest to tdgerl@netzero.net

Thank you,
Tom Gerl
Membership Director
